The six diagonals are the supports of the Haudensaunee Longhouse. Each represents one the Six Nations (west to east): Seneca (Keepers of the Western Door), Tuscarora, Cayuga, Onondaga (Keepers of the Fire), Oneida and the Mohawk (Keepers of the Eastern Door). The paired human figures(solid-Indigenous; open body-non-indigenous) stand in unity around the sacred garden which holds the symbols of the Sky World, the Four Sacred Directions and Turtle Island in the center.
